Five of my favourite wedding venues in Spain.

As a wedding photographer with years of experience, I’ve had the privilege of capturing love stories in some of the most beautiful and iconic locations. Spain, with its rich history, diverse landscapes and exquisite cuisine, offers some of the finest and most romantic wedding venues in the world. Here are my top five favourite wedding venues in Spain, each chosen for its unique appeal and wow factor.

Best wedding venues in Spain: Pazo Señorans, Galicia

Pazo Señorans is a stunning example of a traditional Galician manor house, with all of the romance, charm and elegance that you would hope for in one of the best wedding venues in Spain. Located in the heart of the Rías Baixas, the house combines historical character with great modern amenities, making it perfect for any season. The expansive grounds feature beautiful gardens and outdoor spaces that are ideal for ceremonies and receptions: the massive courtyard, shaded by trees and lit by flickering lanterns at night, is a breathtakingly gracious space. Indoors, you’ll find spacious halls in warm stone, generous reception and dining rooms, and a state-of-the-art kitchen that can cater to any culinary request.

The surrounding area of Rías Baixas offers picturesque coastal landscapes and quaint villages, perfect for wedding photography and for guests to explore. The local cuisine, known for its fresh seafood and wine – Pazo Señorans itself is a thriving small family winery with award-winning Albariños – will leave your guests delighted. You can also take boat trips along the estuaries, visit nearby vineyards for wine tastings, or head for the beaches, adding more depth to the wedding experience.

El Molí de la Torre, Figueres

The main building at Molí de la Torre

El Molí de la Torre is a farmhouse – a former mill, in fact – of monumental proportions, a masterpiece of beautiful neo-classical architecture from the mid-19th century that has been lovingly restored.  It is considered one of the most significant buildings of the Empordá region, and is included in the Architectural Heritage of Catalonia register.  The most impressive features from an architectural viewpoint are perhaps the roof terrace with its balustrade and the dominant tower; but from the viewpoint of someone looking for a unique wedding venue,  this place has everything.  It combines rustic luxury charm with modern comfort, boasting a variety of spaces for celebration: beautiful chandelier-lit halls; a garden overlooked by the extraordinarily elegant facade of the old house with its glorious bougainvillea; a stunningly picturesque courtyard; the ‘salon de los arcos,’ a majestic room on the ground floor with access to the garden; a swimming pool in an idyllic natural setting – perfect for a welcoming aperitif, perhaps; and a mulberry grove.

Nearby, you can explore the Dali Theatre-Museum, dedicated to the works of Salvador Dali (the venue itself even has an inscription on one of the walls written by Dalí himself), or take a short drive to the beautiful beaches of Costa Brava. Figueres itself is a charming town with a rich cultural heritage, perfect for guests to explore. The local cuisine is another highlight, with Catalonia being famous for its rich culinary traditions. From seafood paella to delicious tapas, the food will be a memorable part of your wedding.

This Must Be the Place, Barcelona

The ceremony space at This Must Be The Place, Barcelona. With views like these you can see why it’s one of the best wedding venues in Spain.

Its website says that This Must Be the Place – also known as Mas Casamitjana – boasts ‘modern rustic charm with a sprinkle of rock and roll,’ which is unsurprising as the owners, Jo and Duncan, had earlier careers in the music industry.  The strapline aptly sums up its fantastic melding of rural beauty with something distinctly more avant-garde. It is a perfect example of the traditional grand farmhouse known as a masía (mas in Catalan), now transformed into the most chic of wedding venues, nestled in the wonderfully bucolic Catalan hills and with views toward the foothills of the Pyrenees.  Around a beautiful central courtyard is a suite of incredible atmospheric spaces.  There are lovingly restored double-height barns, filled with light (the glass wall opens onto the courtyard) and connected by a majestic stone arch;  two spacious gardens; a large grassy plateau – ‘El Mirador’ – and even a secret spot within a farmed field.  The masía can be formal or relaxed, providing intimate areas where guests can enjoy an aperitif, and larger spaces for dancing the night away.  Oh, and the sunsets are spectacular.

Barcelona’s vibrant culture and attractions are just a short drive away, making it easy for guests to enjoy the city’s famous architecture, delicious food, and lively atmosphere.  Guests can explore iconic sites like the Sagrada Familia, Park Güell, and the Gothic Quarter, or enjoy a relaxing day at the beach. The culinary scene in Barcelona is world-renowned, offering everything from Michelin-starred restaurants to authentic local eateries.

The elegant ballrooms and terraces with views of the city create a magical setting for your big day.  The whole of the city with its distinctive spires and cupolas seems to unfold beneath the hotel’s central balcony and amazing rooftop terrace. Best wedding venues in Spain: La Callaza de Ronda

La Callaza de Ronda is a charming and exclusive venue just a few minutes’ drive from the fascinating gorge-crest town of Ronda in Andalusia.  This beautiful villa seems nestled in splendid isolation in a scenic fertile valley, surrounded only by a natural peacefulness, the music of birdsong and tinkling goats’ bells.   The main house and surrounding buildings once formed a grand farmhouse, restored about twenty years ago to reflect its Andalusian and Moorish history; it now blends naturally into the landscape of grand oaks, olive groves and lemon orchards.   The villa itself is elegant, cool and spacious, while outside there is a plethora of versatile spaces: gardens, a vine-covered pergola on the terrace (with an astonishing view), an ancient threshing-circle and a wonderful Roman-style swimming pool with a cascading waterfall.

Ronda is rich in history and culture, with its ancient bridges, bullring, and museums. The town’s dramatic cliffs and stunning views make it a perfect location for wedding photos. The local cuisine, featuring traditional Andalusian dishes, adds to the experience. Guests can explore the town’s historic sites, enjoy wine tastings at local vineyards, or take a scenic hike in the surrounding hills. The warm and sunny climate of Andalusia is a near-guarantee that your wedding will be blessed with beautiful weather.

La Callaza offers wonderful vistas of the Andalusian countryside and the famous El Tajo gorge. The historic building and beautiful gardens provide a romantic backdrop for weddings, and manages to feel both luxurious and comfortably homely at the same time.  This is truly a unique and spectacular venue for tying the knot.
