Sabela and Ale invited me to Lucerne, Switzerland to stay in their house for a couple of days for their engagement session. Having never been to Lucerne, or this part of Switzerland in fact, it was amazing to be shown around by two locals, see the sights and try lots of amazing food along the way. Sabela and Ale were amazing hosts and it was great to really get to know them in anticipation of their Galician wedding the following September. Lucerne is a simply stunning place for an engagement session, the icy blue glacial waters running through the town contrast with the reds of the Swiss flags that seem to hang everywhere, the Swiss are pretty patriotic it seems! The snow-capped peaks of Pilatus are ever present in the backdrop as well, and serve as a reminder of the alpine areas close by. 

An added benefit of doing an engagement session like this was how much closer I felt to Sabela and Ale on their wedding day. Having spent a couple of days with them in Lucerne, when it came to the wedding day it was like celebrating with old friends. I ended up staying dancing with them until 5am haha. It helped that their friend Marco was playing awesome house music and the party was on fire, I do love a good dance! 

A few tips for planning your Lucerne, Switzerland engagement session. We did our session in the Spring, the weather can be quite temperamental, so aim for spring to early autumn and try and allow some flexibility with the itinerary to get the best chance of some nice light and views of Pilatus in the background. The colours of the water in the river Reuss and Lake Lucerne really pop with a bit of sunlight on them. You can check the weather forecast at the Swiss Meteo here.  Last tip, make sure you plan in enough time to eat some Swiss cheeses, chocolates and drink some wine!
